A crossover of rock, metal and grunge for a record that sounds powerful, compact, and contemporary. Turn up the volume and get carried away!

Bite the bullet is the first record work by Rainvain (Samuele, Enrico, Matteo and Stefano), a band from Udine, Italy, active since 2020.

It is a collection of six tracks that move between rock and grunge, with an almost metal drift, made of high gain gradation and raw sounds.

Aggressive and penetrating lyrics speak of contemporary society, its moral decay, inability to communicate, uncertainty as the only certainty, general indifference, and widespread apathy.

The line-up is standard, consisting of drums, electric bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and vocals. Bite the Bullet immediately plays it straight by starting with a powerful and punchy guitar riff, granitic drums and just the right amount of metal bass. The vocals, always on the verge of saturation, show an interesting scratch and a charisma that takes you note by note, unhurriedly.

The sound of the instruments matches the sound of the bellies, the guts and makes these songs so compact, urgent, searing. Then again, a band that was born during such a difficult time as the pandemic cannot help but carry with it, even unconsciously, an amount of shadows and monsters that is difficult to quantify.

The crossover between the drums that have a rock attitude, guitar and bass that instead tread somewhat heavier ground, and the vocals, daughter instead of an international grunge lesson is interesting. It must be said, on the other hand, that the length of the songs and the very standard use of the pop song form certainly indicate a more radio-friendly and expendable compromise on digital platforms, where there is no more room for bravura solos, introductory suites or other structures that are not strictly organic to pop compositional modules.

In conclusion, Bite the bullet is a powerful record, one that, while it may seem to be the result of a communicative emergency, also hints at an intelligent, undercurrent planning work that not only does not tone down the songs, but perhaps even strengthens their impact for an ear more accustomed to pop

music.

The listening experience is adrenaline-fueled, letting all shades of aggression wash over you with pleasure and satisfaction. The mixing and mastering work is transparent and honest and helps to give order and value to this EP that already works well in composition and arrangement.
